Overview
Grant Description
This purpose of this agreement is to provide assistance to the University of Connecticut to implement its project to support the Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan to protect and restore Long Island Sound.
Specifically, under this grant agreement, the recipient will perform the following activities:
- Identify and fund high priority, high-quality research via administration of a competitive research program to address the needs of the Long Island Sound study.
- Establish and follow up on the project grants and, with input from the Science and Technical Advisory Committee, will jointly organize a biennial Long Island Sound research conference.
The anticipated deliverables will be research reports, and anticipated outcomes will be informed decision-making based on science. Beneficiaries include academia and committees.
Tied to the implementation of the 2020 management plan, a public perception survey will provide data and an assessment to track the public engagement and knowledge ecosystem target. The anticipated deliverable will be an assessment. The anticipated outcome is information to help the communications team evaluate current and past education activities and public information products and will provide a basis to better implement the education and outreach strategies outlined in the management plan over the next five years. Beneficiaries are the Long Island Sound study and its partners.
