Overview

Grant Description
This agreement provides assistance to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to implement its project to support the Long Island Sound Study Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan to protect and restore the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of Long Island Sound. Specifically, under this cooperative agreement, the recipient will:

1) Serve as the state coordinator to ensure full participation by Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on numerous Long Island Sound Study work groups (habitat, stewardship, embayments, water quality, etc.). This will allow for effective technical integration and resource coordination, including tracking and reporting. Additionally, the recipient will provide technical support for total maximum daily load revision and implementation.

2) Oversee and conduct Long Island Sound water quality monitoring activities, including monthly nutrient and hypoxia surveys. The recipient will also conduct plankton community sampling and analyses.
