Grant Description
Description: This action approves an award in the amount of $317,848, to North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality for the development and implementation of an authorized hazardous waste management program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

Activities: The planned activities involve the development and implementation of an authorized hazardous waste management program in the state of North Carolina.

These activities specifically encompass permitting, corrective actions, closure, compliance, and enforcement programs, all conducted in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement between the state and the Environmental Protection Agency concerning its authorized hazardous waste program.

Subrecipient: No subawards are included in this assistance agreement.

Outcomes: The anticipated deliverables and expected outcomes include the regulation of hazardous waste generation, transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal; the minimization of hazardous waste production; and the protection of public health and the environment from inactive hazardous waste facilities.

The primary beneficiaries of these efforts are the residents of the state of North Carolina.
