The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is inviting applications to support research to develop and test multilevel youth violence prevention interventions for populations that experience health disparities. The goal is to address structural discrimination and other social determinants of health.

Grant Details
The purpose of this initiative is to support research to develop and test multilevel youth violence prevention interventions that include strategies which address structural discrimination and other social determinants of health. Interventions will focus on youth populations that experience health disparities between the ages of 10 to 24 years.

The initiative supports multilevel research that addresses youth violence prevention incorporating strategies addressing structural discrimination and other social determinants of health. The interventions are expected to encompass multiple domains (e.g., biological, behavioral, socio-cultural, environmental, physical environment, or health system) and multiple levels (e.g., individual, interpersonal, community, societal) to address youth violence.

Projects are expected to involve collaborations from a variety of relevant organizations or groups, including but not limited to academic institutions, clinicians, health systems, state and local public health agencies, school systems, school-based student or parent associations, community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations. The interventions should be delivered in various settings such as schools, hospitals, community organizations, faith-based organizations, or juvenile justice settings.

The maximum project period is 5 years with an annual budget limit of $500,000 direct costs.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public/state controlled institutions of higher education and private institutions of higher education), nonprofits with 501(c)(3) IRS status (other than institutions of higher education), for-profit organizations (including small businesses), state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, Indian/Native American tribal governments (federally recognized), independent school districts, public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities, Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments), faith-based or community-based organizations, regional organizations. Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply.

Period of Performance
The project period can be up to 5 years.

Grant Value
$3 million in FY2024 will be committed by NIMHD to fund 4-5 awards with an annual budget limit of $500,000 direct costs.

Place of Performance
Projects are expected to be performed in various settings such as schools, hospitals, community organizations, faith-based organizations, or juvenile justice settings.
