The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Landslide Hazards Program (LHP) issues this Program Announcement for assistance to support communication, planning, coordination, mapping, assessments, and data collection of landslide hazards. The Program Announcement for the Cooperative Landslide Hazard Mapping and Assessment Program is authorized by the National Landslide Preparedness Act (P.L. 116-323) and appropriations to the USGS.A main objective of this Program, as outlined in the National Landslide Preparedness Act, is to provide grants, on a competitive basis, to state, territorial, local, and Tribal governments to research, map, assess, and collect data on landslide hazards within the jurisdictions of those governments. Grant Details
The USGS Cooperative Landslide Hazard Mapping and Assessment Program requests applicants to address risk reduction activities that focus on landslide hazard planning, coordination, education, outreach, mapping, and assessments. Applicants must include a map in their proposal showing the proposed mapping area and provide details on the area of private, state, Tribal, and federal lands within it. Proposals must articulate all protocols or methods to be followed for mapping projects. Projects should be self-sustaining with clear plans for data analysis and interpretation. Proposals must also include a detailed budget narrative justifying all costs associated with the project.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include state, Tribal, territorial, and local governments. A university may submit a proposal on behalf of a state geological survey or other state office organized under a university system. Ineligible proposals include those from U.S. Government agencies unless part of a collaborative proposal; proposals for long-term operation of monitoring networks; those involving direct procurement of products; or projects seeking funding for capital improvements related to landslides.

Period of Performance
Projects may have a performance period of either 1 or 2 years. Two-year projects require an Annual Progress Report due 90 days after the end of the first year in addition to a Final Technical Report due 90 days after the end of the performance period.

Grant Value
The estimated total funding available is $1 million with individual grant awards ranging from $10,000 to a maximum of $250,000.

Place of Performance
The grant activities will be performed within the jurisdictions of the applying state, territorial, local, or Tribal governments.
