USAID Advancing Food Fortification Opportunities to Reinforce Diets (USAID AFFORD)

Background
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the USAID Advancing Food Fortification Opportunities to Reinforce Diets (USAID AFFORD) program. The program is designed to provide operational support to field Missions and other Operating Units of the U.S. Agency for International Development, contributing to the goals of the Global Food Security Strategy through the implementation of programming aligned with the Agency’s LSFF Results Framework.

Grant Details
The USAID Advancing Food Fortification Opportunities to Reinforce Diets (USAID AFFORD) activity is designed to improve dietary diversity for households, women, and children by protecting them when they are unable to afford or access a diverse diet. The activity will strengthen the ability of country and regional food systems to provide sufficient vitamins and minerals to those who are economically and nutritionally vulnerable, particularly during times of shocks and stressors.
The activity aims to safely and sustainably reduce micronutrient inadequacies and improve diets, particularly for women and children, through large-scale food fortification (LSFF) of staple foods and condiments. The program will focus on strengthening and extending the enabling environment and regulatory monitoring and enforcement of LSFF through the public sector; expanding and sustaining LSFF by the private sector; strengthening the design, monitoring, and evaluation of fortification programs; holding the public and private sectors accountable through civil society; garnering and mobilizing global commitment, leadership, and resources to scale LSFF.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility for this award is not restricted. To be eligible for award, the applicant must provide all information as required in this NOFO and meet eligibility standards in Section C of this NOFO.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance is five (5) years with an estimated start date in/or about End of fourth quarter FY 2022.

Grant Value
$75,000,000.00 in total USAID funding over a five (5) year period.

Place of Performance
The activity will primarily provide services to Nutrition Priority Countries (NPC) and Feed the Future (FTF) focus countries.
