The U.S. Embassy Budapest Public Diplomacy Section (PDS Budapest) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes we focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding.

Purpose of Small Grants: PDS Budapest invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and Hungary through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.

This is an Annual Program Statement, outlining our funding priorities, the strategic themes we focus on, and the procedures for submitting requests for funding.

Grant Details
PDS Budapest invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the U.S. and Hungary through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. Examples of programs include academic and professional lectures, seminars, speaker programs, artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, exhibitions, cultural heritage conservation, professional and academic exchanges, and programs supporting various priority areas such as transatlantic commitment, resilient Transatlantic economy, empowering female entrepreneurs, promoting rule of law and democratic governance, and strengthening independent media and journalism.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include registered not-for-profit organizations, individuals, non-profit or governmental educational institutions, and governmental institutions from the U.S. and Hungary. For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply. Cost sharing is not required.

Period of Performance
The length of performance period ranges from three (3) to twelve (12) months. The proposed program should be completed in twelve (12) months or less.
Anticipated program start date is no later than September 30, 2023 in case of FY2023 funding.

Grant Value
Awards may range from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $25,000. The total available funding is to be determined based on the availability of funds for Fiscal Year 2023 or Fiscal Year 2024 Public Diplomacy Funding.

Place of Performance
Programs should target geographically and demographically diverse audiences within Hungary.
