The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Office of Federal/State Partnership is accepting applications for State and Jurisdictional Humanities Councils General Operating Support Grants. The purpose of this program is to provide general operating support grants to humanities councils in the United States and its jurisdictions. State and jurisdictional humanities councils tailor their grantmaking and programs to the needs, resources, and interests of their state or jurisdiction, while also extending the reach of NEH-funded projects and further strengthening NEH's connection to local communities throughout the U.S. and its jurisdictions. NEH determines annual funding for each state and jurisdictional humanities council according to a legislatively mandated formula.

Grant Details
The program supports activities in years one, two, and three, and closeout requirements in years four and five. State and jurisdictional humanities councils must apply annually to receive this funding. The funding period under this notice is November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2023. Successful applicants will be awarded outright funds, federal matching funds, or a combination of the two, depending on the availability of funds. Funding beyond the first year is dependent on the availability of appropriated funds for State and Jurisdictional Humanities Councils General Operating Support Grants in subsequent fiscal years, satisfactory recipient performance, and a decision that continued funding is in the best interest of the Federal Government.

Eligibility Requirements
The only eligible applicants are the independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) state and jurisdictional humanities councils.

Period of Performance
State and Jurisdictional Humanities Councils General Operating Support Grants have a period of performance of five years. Within a five-year period of performance, a General Operating Support Grant funds activity in years one, two, and three. Closeout activities occur in years four and five. State and jurisdictional humanities councils must apply annually. The funding period is November 1, 2022-October 31, 2023.

Grant Value
Approximately $50,000,000 is expected to be available to fund 56 recipients. Awards will range from approximately $300,000 to approximately $3,000,000.
