Description

Posted: Feb. 6, 2026, 12:00 a.m. EST
This non-competitive Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is intended to fund a single award to the current awardee institution of the Accelerating Medicines Partnership in Common Metabolic Diseases Knowledge Portal (AMP CMD KP), the Broad Institute, Inc. The AMP CMD program is a collaborative partnership between the NIH, pharmaceutical companies, and nonprofit organizations to develop new models for identifying and validating promising biological targets to serve as biomarkers and/or for drug discovery (www.nih.gov/research-training/accelerating-medicines-partnership-amp/type-2-diabetes). This is a one-time NOFO to provide funds to the AMP CMD KP to continue the development and maintenance of the web portal and underlying, curated knowledge base; which serves as the flagship resource encompassing the myriad types of data and information that provide an understanding of the biological heterogeneity in patients with CMDs and their related complications. In its next five-year period, the AMP CMD KP will be expected to continue its expansion of its datasets and traits, import additional data types, deploy additional analytical and visualization tools, and increase its utility to a more diverse user base, and to develop a framework for independent sustainability. The application will be peer-reviewed and if it is not a meritorious application, it will not be funded.

Background
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), through the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), is issuing a non-competitive Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to fund a single award to the Broad Institute, Inc. This initiative is part of the Accelerating Medicines Partnership in Common Metabolic Diseases Knowledge Portal (AMP CMD KP). It aims to develop new models for identifying and validating biological targets for drug discovery and biomarkers.

The AMP CMD program collaborates with pharmaceutical companies and nonprofit organizations to enhance understanding of common metabolic diseases (CMDs) such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The goal of this NOFO is to continue the development and maintenance of the AMP CMD KP, which serves as a comprehensive resource for data related to CMDs.

Grant Details
The awarded institution will be responsible for:
1) Continuing the development and maintenance of the AMP CMD Knowledge Portal;
2) Expanding datasets and traits related to CMDs;
3) Importing additional data types;
4) Deploying analytical and visualization tools;
5) Increasing utility for a diverse user base;
6) Developing a framework for independent sustainability.

The AMP CMD KP will serve as a curated repository, analytical platform, and portal for publicly available data on CMDs. It will facilitate research that leads to potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The project will not generate new data but will aggregate existing genomic information.
