Safe Kids Worldwide Grant Program

ID: DHS-09-USFA-095-2083 • Type: Posted

Description

Safe Kids is a global network of grassroots organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under. Their aim is to stimulate changes in attitudes, behavior and the environment. The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Safe Kids Worldwide organization to help address the serious high risk for fire deaths and injuries for children in this age group. Fires and burns are the 3rd leading cause of unintentional death among children aged 1-14 years. Children under 5 years of age are at the greatest risk from home fire death and injury; their death rate is nearly twice the national average. Preparation and education are key elements of preventing fire tragedies. This grant will enable Safe Kids to continue to educate parents, caregivers and children about the simple behavior modification that can prevent needless tragedies.
