The purpose of the RRTCs, which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. These activities are designed to benefit people with disabilities, family members, rehabilitation service providers, policymakers and other research stakeholders. The purpose of this particular RRTC is to conduct research, training, technical assistance, and related activities to contribute to improved employment outcomes among youth and young adults with serious mental health conditions. NIDILRR plans to make one grant under this opportunity. The grant will have a 60-month project period, with five 12-month budget periods.

Background
The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Transition to Employment among Youth and Young Adults with Serious Mental Health Conditions is funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program. The purpose of the RRTCs is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. These activities are designed to benefit people with disabilities, family members, rehabilitation service providers, policymakers, and other research stakeholders.

Grant Details
The purpose of this particular RRTC is to conduct research, training, technical assistance, and related activities to contribute to improved employment outcomes among youth and young adults with serious mental health conditions. The population of interest for this priority is youth ages 14 through 25 with serious mental health conditions (SMHC). The RRTC must conduct research activities in one or more priority areas focusing on TAY with SMHC as a group or on a specific clinical or demographic subpopulation(s) of TAY with a SMHC. Research priorities include interventions that contribute to improved employment outcomes, individual and environmental factors associated with improved employment outcomes, effects of education, vocational rehabilitation, or other government practices on employment outcomes, employer practices associated with improved employment outcomes, and technology to improve employment outcomes. The RRTC must focus its research on a specific stage(s) of research including exploration and discovery, intervention development, intervention efficacy, and scale-up evaluation.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include states; public or private agencies; public or private organizations; Indian tribes and tribal organizations; and institutions of higher education.

Period of Performance
The grant will have a 60-month project period with five 12-month budget periods.

$875,000 is the estimated total funding for one award under this opportunity. The award ceiling is $875,000 per budget period while the award floor is $850,000 per budget period.
