Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP)

Background
The Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP) is issued by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, Community-Based Division. The program aims to support organizations to screen and educate people exposed to radiation related to the mining of uranium and U.S. testing of nuclear weapons.

Grant Details
The program supports organizations in providing public information about radiogenic cancers and diseases, medical screenings, referrals and follow-up services for medical treatment, and assistance in documenting Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) claims. The expected total available funding for FY 2024 is $1,700,000, with up to 8 new grants anticipated. The funding range per award is up to $250,000 each budget period. The period of performance is planned for a total three-year period from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include nonprofit entities with a 501(c)(3) IRS status or other IRS status, public entities such as state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, health care organizations including National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers and tribal organizations. Successful applications must target populations located in the states cited in the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.

The period of performance for the grant is from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027.
