Background
The Primary Care Training and Enhancement—Residency Training in Street Medicine (PCTE-RTSM) Program is administered by the Bureau of Health Workforce, specifically the Division of Medicine and Dentistry, Medical Training and Geriatrics Branch. The program aims to enhance training in street medicine for residents enrolled in accredited primary care residency programs, focusing on providing care to individuals experiencing homelessness. This initiative is crucial given the significant health challenges faced by this population, including high rates of chronic conditions and mental health disorders.

Grant Details
The PCTE-RTSM Program seeks to fund existing primary care graduate medical education residency programs to include clinical rotations that train residents in street medicine. Awardees are expected to develop or enhance training curricula, increase residents' knowledge and skills related to the unique needs of homeless populations, and foster interprofessional teamwork. Specific tasks include:

- Developing targeted curricula for primary care services to homeless populations;
- Providing training on behavioral health conditions;
- Establishing partnerships with community-based organizations for clinical rotations;
- Ensuring cultural competency in care delivery; and
- Maintaining ACGME accreditation throughout the project.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include accredited public or nonprofit private hospitals, schools of medicine or osteopathic medicine, and other nonprofit entities capable of operating an ACGME-accredited primary care residency program. Individuals are not eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate ACGME accreditation in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or combined internal medicine-pediatrics. Trainees must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for awarded grants will span five years, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2030. Each award may cover five 12-month budget periods.

Grant Value
The total funding available for FY 2025 is $9,500,000, with up to $500,000 available per award per year. The program anticipates funding approximately 19 grants.

Place of Performance
The grant activities will be performed across various locations serving homeless populations within the United States.
