Partnering with Professional and Medical Associations to Increase Vaccination Coverage Across Different Racial and Ethnic Adult Populations Experiencing Disparities

CDC seeks to build the evidence base of effective interventions to improve vaccination coverage and to identify and implement strategies to reduce racial and/or ethnic disparities in adult vaccination coverage. A strong recommendation from a healthcare provider is the single most important factor in vaccine acceptance as they are seen as trusted agents on vaccine-related issues for patients, especially if the provider is of the same racial or ethnic minority group as the patient. To improve vaccine confidence and coverage among certain racial and ethnic groups, CDC aims to increase the likelihood that providers, particularly providers of color, will recommend vaccination to patients from these racial and ethnic groups.
