PLEASE NOTE:

On October 27, 2025, a Court in the case State of Washington, et al. v U.S. Department of Education, et al., 2:25-cv-1228-KKE (W.D. Wash.) issued a preliminary injunction ( Order ) regarding the earlier non-continuation of several grants in the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant ( MHSP ) and the School-Based Mental Health Services Grant ( SBMH ) programs. Please note that the Court's Order does not impact the application submission deadline for the ongoing MHSP and SBMH grant competitions, and that deadline remains October 29, 2025 at 11:59:59 pm ET.

Purpose of Program: The MHSP program provides competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs, as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(49)) and local educational agencies (LEAs, as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(30)) to address the shortage of credentialed (as defined in the Notice of Final Priorities) school-based mental health services providers, specifically school psychologists, in high-need LEAs.
