National Topography Model (3DNTM) Data Collaboration Announcement (DCA)

ID: G25AS00171 • Type: Posted

Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has developed a vision for the 3D National Topography Model (3DNTM) that will integrate USGS elevation and hydrography datasets to model the Nation's topography in 3D.The 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) is the terrestrial elevation component of the 3DNTM. The goal of the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) is to complete data-acquisition of nationwide lidar (IfSAR in Alaska) to provide the first-ever national baseline of consistent high-resolution topographic elevation data both bare earth and 3D point clouds. At the end of Fiscal Year 2023, 94.7 percent of the Nation had baseline 3DEP data available or in-progress. The USGS is prioritizing partnerships to complete the 3DEP baseline, while also transitioning towards the next generation of 3DEP coverage for areas where the baseline is available or in-progress.The 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP) is the hydrography component of the 3DNTM and represents the first systematic remapping of the Nation's hydrography since the 1:24,000 scale topographic maps were created between 1947 and 1992. 3DHP will enable analysis and visualization for the broad range of critical data applications like flooding, contaminant spills, water quality and quantity, drought, climate change, and other, emerging applications.3DHP and 3DEP products and services, including data resulting from cooperatively funded projects can be accessed via The National Map Data Download and Visualization Services: https://apps.nationalmap.gov.
