The Museum Grants for American Latino History and Culture (ALHC) program supports projects that build the capacity of American Latino history and culture museums to serve their communities, and broadly advance the growth and development of a professional workforce in American Latino cultural institutions.
Background
The Museum Grants for American Latino History and Culture (ALHC) program is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The program aims to support projects that enhance the capacity of American Latino history and culture museums, enabling them to better serve their communities and contribute to the professional development of a workforce in American Latino cultural institutions.

Grant Details
The ALHC program supports projects that may include: efforts to serve the public through exhibitions; educational/interpretive programs; digital learning resources; policy development and institutional planning; technology enhancements; professional development; community outreach; audience development; and collections management, curation, care, and conservation.

Projects should demonstrate a thorough understanding of current practices in the field and generate measurable results that address specific needs or challenges. Additionally, projects aimed at workforce development may involve internships and fellowships for students from Institutions of Higher Education, particularly Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include units of State, local, or Tribal government; private nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code; and museums focused on American Latino life, art, history, or culture that employ a professional staff and regularly exhibit objects to the public.

Organizations must be located in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico or Guam. Partnerships are encouraged but one organization must meet all eligibility requirements.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance for funded projects is from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028. Projects may last between one to three years.

Grant Value
IMLS expects to award a total of $6 million through this announcement with an anticipated number of 24 awards ranging from $5,000 to $500,000 each.

Place of Performance
The grant activities can be performed in any of the 50 states of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or Republic of Palau.
