Description

The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) program supports states and tribes through grants to provide outreach and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries with limited incomes and assets. MIPPA state grantees help educate beneficiaries about the Low Income Subsidy (LIS) program for Medicare Part D, Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs), and Medicare Preventive Services while also providing one on one assistance to eligible Medicare beneficiaries to help them apply for benefit programs that help lower the costs of their Medicare premiums and deductibles. MIPPA state funding is divided into three Priority Areas: Priority Area 1 for the State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP); Priority Area 2 for the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA); and Priority Area 3 for the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC). These funds will allow agencies to provide enhanced outreach to eligible Medicare beneficiaries regarding their preventive, wellness, and limited income benefits; application assistance to individuals who may be eligible for LIS or MSPs; and outreach activities aimed at preventing disease and promoting wellness. The funds awarded through this application are for a five year project period running September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2027. All awards will be subject to the availability of federal funds.
