The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) will award Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Postdoctoral Institutional Research Training Grants for the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program (T32) to eligible institutions to create, provide, and disseminate clinical and translational science training and career support programs that enhance postdoctoral research training of individuals with doctoral degrees (these include, but are not limited to, the following: D.M.D., DC, DO, DVM., OD, DPM, ScD, EngD, DrPH, DNSc, DPT, PharmD, ND [Doctor of Naturopathy], DSW, PsyD, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing research) and help ensure a heterogenous pool of clinical and translational scientists trainees who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to advance diagnostics, therapeutics, clinical interventions, and behavioral modifications that improve health and support meaningful translational science research projects that address demonstrable needs among stakeholder communities.

Background
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is issuing this funding opportunity to support the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Postdoctoral Institutional Research Training Grants for the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program.

The goal is to enhance postdoctoral research training for individuals with doctoral degrees in various fields, ensuring a diverse pool of clinical and translational scientists equipped to advance health diagnostics, therapeutics, and interventions.

Grant Details
The NRSA T32 program aims to create, provide, and disseminate training and career support programs that enhance the postdoctoral research training of individuals with doctoral degrees.

Key tasks include:
1) Developing a structured training program that includes coursework, research experiences, and professional skills development;
2) Ensuring trainees acquire knowledge in clinical and translational science areas such as biostatistics, epidemiology, health disparities, telehealth, and responsible conduct of research;
3) Fostering a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork across disciplines;
4) Implementing evidence-informed mentoring practices;
5) Monitoring trainee progress and program effectiveness through established evaluation metrics;
6) Promoting diversity within the research workforce by engaging individuals from underrepresented groups.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible organizations include all Clinical and Translational Science Award (UM1 Clinical Trial Optional) applicant organizations and active award recipients.

Only the primary UM1 CTSA hub organization may apply. Non-domestic entities are not eligible. The PD/PI must be an established investigator capable of providing leadership for the program. Trainees must have received a qualifying doctoral degree prior to their appointment.

Period of Performance
The project period may last up to 5 years, with appointments typically made in 12-month increments for postdoctoral trainees.

Grant Value
While application budgets are not limited, they must reflect the actual needs of the proposed project. NCATS will not award more than specified trainee slots based on hub tier classifications.

Place of Performance
The grant will be performed at eligible institutions that are part of the CTSA Program.
