Description

This Limited Competition Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) invites applications for a Consortium Coordinating Center (CCC) to serve as part of the Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortia (MoTrPAC). The goals of the CCC are to provide overall coordination of the Consortium, to monitor study protocol implementation, to coordinate the collection and distribution of data and biological samples from MoTrPAC studies, and to contribute to the creation of a resource for future researchers. Only current MoTrPAC clinical coordinating center awardees are eligible to apply. These will be collaborative cooperative agreements and applicants are expected to use the uniform IRB approved MoTrPAC protocol and have research approaches in accordance with DSMB guidance for analysis of clinical trial data.
Background
The Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC) is a national research consortium designed to discover and perform preliminary characterization of the range of molecular transducers that underlie the effects of physical activity. The overall goal is to understand the biological processes and pathways through which physical activity influences health and disease outcomes. MoTrPAC functions as a large, complex, collaborative undertaking involving Clinical Centers, Chemical Analysis Sites, Preclinical Animal Studies Sites, a Bioinformatics Center, and a Consortium Coordination Center (CCC).

Grant Details
The goals of the Consortium Coordinating Center (CCC) are to provide overall coordination of the Consortium, to monitor study protocol implementation, to coordinate the collection and distribution of data and biological samples from MoTrPAC studies, and to contribute to the creation of a resource for future researchers. The CCC will include cores such as Data Management Analysis and Quality Control Center (DMAQC), Biospecimen Repository, Exercise Intervention Core (EIC), and Administrative Core (ACC). The CCC is expected to lead collaborative MoTrPAC science by employing best practices of team science, mutual respect, cooperation, and collaboration with all consortium members. The CCC will work with NIAMS, NIH OD, individual Clinical Centers, the Chemical Analysis Sites, the Bioinformatics Center and the PASS.

Eligibility Requirements
This grant opportunity is open only to the currently supported Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC) Consortium Coordinating Center awarded in RFA-RM-15-014. Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply. The Program Director/Principal Investigator(s) of the CCC is expected to have broad experience in working collaboratively across disciplines and ability to communicate clearly with all relevant stakeholders.

Period of Performance
The maximum project period may not exceed three years. The program will start on May 15, 2023, with scientific merit review in October 2023 and advisory council review in December 2023.

Grant Value
NIH intends to commit up to $6.2 M in FY24-26 to fund one clinical coordinating center in full but intends to make separate awards for parts of the clinical coordinating center (e.g., DMAQC, EIC, Biospecimens Repository, Administrative Core etc.). It is intended that full year support will be awarded for FY24 and FY25 and half-year support will be provided in FY26.
