Description

The goal of this funding opportunity is to develop, establish, implement, and maintain a successful collaborative partnership to advance NIAID priorities, support NIH collaboration on global health, and advance biomedical research internationally. This program will support a partnership between the NIH and the recipient(s) with the commitment and capacity to help extend NIH research-related programs worldwide.
Background
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking to develop, establish, implement, and maintain a successful collaborative partnership to advance NIAID priorities, support NIH collaboration on global health, and advance biomedical research internationally. The NIH has become an established leader in global health, and the international research NIH supports both advances its scientific goals and helps improve the health of U.S. citizens and millions of people around the world.

Grant Details
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to enhance global health through the establishment and maintenance of a successful collaborative partnership to advance health research, research capacity enhancement, and other research-related NIH activities. The program aims to support a partnership between the NIH and the recipient(s) with the commitment and capacity to help extend NIH research-related programs worldwide.

The program will support innovative international basic, applied, and clinical biomedical research activities; develop, maintain, renew and enhance research-related education; develop, maintain, renew and enhance research-related resources; disseminate scientific knowledge to facilitate global utilization of research findings; assess and evaluate health-related programs focused on health research and public health.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) IRS status), for-profit organizations (including small businesses), local governments, state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), federal government agencies or U.S. Territory or Possession entities. Foreign institutions are also eligible to apply.

Applicant organizations must have agreements or formal collaborative relations with at least 140 countries and have staff posted in at least 140 countries working at both local and regional levels.

Period of Performance
The maximum project period is 5 years with an earliest start date in September 2023. The program will support multiple activities addressing global health issues over this period.

Grant Value
Application budgets are not expected to exceed $2,360,000 direct costs in FY 2024 but need to reflect the actual needs of the proposed project. The number of awards is contingent upon NIH appropriations and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
