Background
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada State Office is offering a grant opportunity for Invasive and Noxious Plant Management. The program supports projects funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Section 40804 (b) Ecosystem Restoration, and aims to promote ecosystem health by preventing, detecting, inventorying, controlling, and monitoring weed populations on public lands. Grant Details
The program strategic goals include inventorying and documenting locations of noxious weeds and other invasive species, using an Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPM) approach to determine the most effective method of weed control, selecting the most effective and targeted herbicide for treatment, stabilizing and rehabilitating disturbed areas, conducting post-treatment monitoring to determine effectiveness.

Prioritizing and treating target undesirable plant species or groups of species within a specific geographic area.

Implementing and monitoring weed control and site rehabilitation measures.

Developing and disseminating public education and outreach activities and materials.

Promoting public engagement and learning opportunities through resources education and outreach programs, events, and products. The total funding for this grant opportunity is $995,000 with an expected award amount ranging from $25,000 to $350,000. Anticipated number of awards is 6. The period of performance for funded projects will range between one and no more than five years.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include State governments, County governments, City or township governments, Special district governments, Independent school districts, Public and State controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities, Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education), Nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education), Private institutions of higher education. Cost sharing or matching is not required for this program; however, a voluntary cost share is strongly encouraged. Foreign entities or projects are not eligible for funding under this program.

Period of Performance
Projects funded through this NOFO will start upon issuance of a notice of award by the BLM Grants Management Officer executed through GrantSolutions. Agreement terms for funded projects are estimated to range between one and no more than five years. Projects cannot be funded for more than a five-year period.

Individuals and For-Profit Organizations are ineligible to apply for awards under this NOFO.This program NOFO does not support entities hiring interns or crews under the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993. The Public Lands Corps Act of 1993, 16 USC, Chapter 37, Subchapter II-Public Lands Corps, is the only legislative authority that allows BLM to "hire" interns under this authority. Therefore, eligible Youth Conservation Corps may only apply for projects developed under NOFO 15.243 – BLM Youth Conservation Opportunities on Public Lands.
