Background
The U.S. Embassy Tokyo of the U.S. Department of State is offering a grant opportunity for organizations to conduct a media study tour for Japanese journalists on trilateral security cooperation. The program aims to provide Japanese journalists with firsthand experience and understanding of the enhanced trilateral security cooperation between the United States, Japan, and Republic of Korea, following the historic August 2023 Trilateral Leaders’ Summit.

The program will involve a five-day media study tour in Tokyo and Seoul, including visits to the DMZ. The participating journalists will engage with policymakers and experts from all three nations to gain insights into the enhanced cooperation and its significance to the region. The program will cover various costs including international airfare, domestic travel expenses, ground transportation, lodging, visa fees, overseas travel insurance, meals, incidentals, and interpretation fees.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, public and private educational institutions, think tanks, civil society/non-governmental organizations, and public international organizations. Cost sharing is encouraged but not required. All organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number issued via www.SAM.gov as well as a valid registration on www.SAM.gov.

Period of Performance
The length of performance period is up to 24 months with an anticipated program start date no later than May 15, 2025.
