Save America's Treasures grants from the Historic Preservation Fund provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Background
The Save America’s Treasures grants from the Historic Preservation Fund provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-Federal match, which can be cash or documented in-kind. The grant program is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). FY2023 Public Law 117-328 provides $26,500,000 million for the SAT Grant Program.

Grant Details
Preservation projects must be designated individually as a National Historic Landmark or a contributing structure to a National Historic Landmark District, or listed individually in the National Register of Historic Places for national significance or a contributing structure to a historic district that is listed in the National Register for its national significance. The preservation opportunity can be found under opportunity number P23AS00499.
The total funding is estimated at $26,500,000 with expected awards ranging from $125,000 to $750,000.
Anticipated award date is August 01, 2024 with an expected number of awards between 35 and 70 projects.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, independent school districts, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, private institutions of higher education, federally-recognized Indian Tribes, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiian Organizations.
Cost sharing or matching requirement is mandatory with a minimum of 50% of the total project cost provided from non-Federal sources.

Period of Performance
The period of performance will start once funding has been secured and awards have been made.
Agreements are not effective until fully executed with signature from the NPS Financial Assistance Awarding Officer (FAAO).
Do not anticipate a start date sooner than 6 months following the application deadline.

$26,500,000 is allocated for FY2023 Public Law 117-328 for the SAT Grant Program.
The maximum award amount is $750,000 while the minimum award amount is $125,000.
