Description

Save America's Treasures grants from the Historic Preservation Fund provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-Federal match, which can be cash or documented in-kind. The grant program is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).There are separate opportunities for preservation and collections projects. The preservation opportunity can be found under opportunity number P21AS00433. The collections opportunity can be found under opportunity Number P21AS00434.FY2021 Public Law 116-260 provides $25 million for the SAT Grant Program.

Background
The Save America’s Treasures grants from the Historic Preservation Fund provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-Federal match, which can be cash or documented in-kind. The grant program is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). FY2021 Public Law 116-260 provides $25 million for the SAT Grant Program.

Grant Details
Preservation projects must be designated individually as a National Historic Landmark or a contributing structure to a National Historic Landmark District, at the time of application.

Listed individually in the National Register of Historic Places for national significance or a contributing structure to a historic district that is listed in the National Register for its national significance, at the time of application.

The total funding is estimated to be $25,000,000 with an expected award amount ranging from $125,000 to $500,000 in federal share.

The anticipated award date is June 30, 2022, with an expected number of awards between 30 and 70 projects from FY2021 funding.

The type of award is a grant.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, independent school districts, public and State controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments), federally-recognized Indian Tribes, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiian Organizations.

Cost sharing or matching requirement is mandatory with a minimum of 50% of the total project cost.

Period of Performance
Projects receiving funding through this Notice of Funding Opportunity will start once funding has been secured and awards have been made.

Agreements are not effective until fully executed with signature from the NPS Financial Assistance Awarding Officer (FAAO).

Do not anticipate a start date sooner than 6 months following the application deadline.
