Under 49 U.S.C. 47115, the Secretary of Transportation, through the FAA, will consider projects that are the most appropriate to carry out the statute at any time prior to September 30, 2022.

Eligible applicant categories include: a public agency owning (or leasing from another government entity) a public-use airport, a private entity owning a public use airport, and an Indian tribe or pueblo owning or leasing a public-use airport.
