AmeriCorps improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. AmeriCorps brings people together to tackle some of the country's most pressing challenges through national service and volunteerism. AmeriCorps members serve with organizations dedicated to the improvement of communities and those serving.

AmeriCorps grants are awarded to eligible organizations that engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions to strengthen communities. An AmeriCorps member is a person who does community service through AmeriCorps. Members may receive a living allowance and other benefits. After successful completion of their service, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award they can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans.

AmeriCorps is a federal agency that improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 AmeriCorps State and National Competitive Grants provide funding opportunities for various organizations to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions aimed at strengthening communities. Eligible organizations include institutions of higher education, local governments, school districts, nonprofit organizations, State Service Commissions, states and US territories, Indian tribes, and public health departments.

Grant Details
The grant aims to support organizations that will utilize AmeriCorps members to address pressing community challenges. Key tasks include:

1) Serving communities with concentrated poverty, rural areas, tribal communities, and historically underserved individuals;

2) Implementing programs for youth mental health and substance use recovery services;

3) Improving the quality of life for veterans and military families;

4) Promoting environmental stewardship;

5) Supporting civic bridgebuilding programs;

6) Providing enhanced benefits to AmeriCorps members to improve recruitment and retention;

7) Creating workforce pathways for members;

8) Engaging second chance youth in service roles.

All applications must include at least one aligned performance measure corresponding to the proposed primary intervention.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include Indian tribes, institutions of higher education, local governments (including school districts), nonprofit organizations, State Service Commissions (which can submit sub-applicants), and states/US territories. Organizations must have a valid SAM registration and Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). New applicants are encouraged to apply but cannot apply for Full Cost Fixed Amount grants. Organizations with violations of federal laws or unpaid federal tax liabilities are ineligible.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for the grants is generally three years. The initial award is made for the first year with continuation awards dependent on future appropriations and satisfactory performance. The earliest start date for projects is July 1, 2025.

Grant Value
The total value of the grant varies based on project scope. Estimated award amounts differ depending on the type of grant applied for. For example, the maximum cost per Member Service Year (MSY) is set at $25,000 for competitive state/territory programs.

Place of Performance
The specific geographic locations where the grant activities will take place are determined by the applicant's proposal.
