NIDCD invites applications for formative dissemination and implementation (D and I) research projects in NIDCD mission areas of hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language.
Background
The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) is inviting applications for early-stage dissemination and implementation (D&I) research projects in the NIDCD mission areas of hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language. The goal is to support research that sets a sufficient foundation for high-quality D&I focused R01 in NIDCD mission areas.

Grant Details
The funding opportunity aims to support early-stage D&I research by integrating a D&I process model as a core component of the application. It requires the incorporation of core D&I research elements such as D&I theories, models and frameworks, strategies, outcomes and outcome measures, community engaged research approaches, qualitative and mixed methods, and theories and methods relevant to health equity. Clinical trials are optional for this funding opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, state and local governments, federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, Native American tribal organizations, faith-based or community-based organizations, regional organizations, and foreign entities. Individuals with the necessary skills and resources to carry out the proposed research are invited to apply.

Period of Performance
The total project period may not exceed 2 years. The earliest start date is October 11, 2024.

Grant Value
NIDCD intends to commit approximately $1 million for this Notice of Funding Opportunity. The combined budget for direct costs for the two-year project period may not exceed $275,000. No more than $200,000 direct costs may be requested in any single year.
