DoD Breast Cancer, Clinical Research Extension Award

Background
The fiscal year 2025 (FY25) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) Clinical Research Extension Award is issued by the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) under the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). The BCRP was initiated in FY92 with a mission to support innovative, high-impact research aimed at ending breast cancer for Service Members, Veterans, and the general public. Grant Details
The Clinical Research Extension Award aims to extend or expand data collection, follow-up, and analysis of breast cancer clinical studies. It addresses knowledge loss due to early trial termination or limited patient follow-up. Applications must address at least one of the FY25 BCRP overarching challenges. Key features include:

- Inclusion of two or more breast cancer consumer advocates in the research team.
- Allowance for a single Principal Investigator (PI) or two partnering PIs.
- A maximum funding cap of $7M for single PI applications or $8.4M for Partnering PI Option applications.

Proposed research may include deeper molecular analysis, initiation of new correlative studies, biomarker validation, or continued clinical follow-up of patients enrolled in ongoing or completed trials.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include extramural and intramural organizations such as academic institutions, biotechnology companies, foundations, and public/private entities. Independent investigators at all academic levels can be named as PIs. There are no limits on the number of applications an investigator may submit; however, they should not be named on multiple applications addressing the same research project.

Period of Performance
The maximum period of performance for this grant is four years.

The total value expected to be allotted for this grant opportunity is approximately $8.4 million, with individual awards capped at $7 million for single PI applications and $8.4 million for Partnering PI Option applications.
