Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program: Health and Function (Research)

Background
The Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program aims to plan and conduct research, demonstration projects, training, and related activities to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities. The program also seeks to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The specific priority for this DRRP opportunity is to propose a research project aimed at improving health and function outcomes of people with disabilities.

Grant Details
The grant will fund research projects focused on technology to improve health and function outcomes among people with disabilities, individual and environmental factors associated with improved health and function outcomes among people with disabilities, interventions designed to contribute to improved health and function outcomes among people with disabilities, effects of government policies and programs on health and function outcomes among people with disabilities, and practices and policies that contribute to improved health and function outcomes among transition-aged youth with disabilities. The grant requires a focus on a specific stage of research such as exploration and discovery, intervention development, intervention efficacy, or scale-up evaluation.
Additionally, knowledge translation activities must be conducted to facilitate stakeholder use of the knowledge generated from the research activities. The involvement of people with disabilities in the research activities is also required.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include states; public or private agencies; public or private organizations; Indian tribes; tribal organizations; institutions of higher education (IHEs); for-profit agencies; for-profit organizations.

Period of Performance
The grant has a 60-month project period with five 12-month budget periods.

Grant Value
$1,000,000 total funding is available for an expected 2 awards. The award ceiling is $500,000 per budget period while the award floor is $495,000 per budget period.
