Description

This funding opportunity seeks to support the Comprehensive Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (CPACHE) Program. The CPACHE Program develops and maintains comprehensive, long-term, and mutually beneficial partnerships between institutions serving underserved health disparity populations and underrepresented students (ISUPSs) and NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs). The program aims to achieve a more robust national cancer program and address challenges in cancer and cancer disparities research, education, and outreach, as well as their impact on underserved populations. The institutions in each partnership are expected to work collaboratively to 1) increase the cancer research and cancer research education capacity of the ISUPSs; 2) increase the number of students and investigators from underrepresented populations engaged in cancer research; 3) improve the effectiveness of CCs in developing and sustaining research programs focused on cancer health disparities and increase the number of investigators and students conducting cancer health disparities research, and 4) develop and implement cancer-related activities that benefit the surrounding underserved communities.
Background
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is seeking to support the Comprehensive Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (CPACHE) Program. The program aims to develop and maintain comprehensive, long-term, and mutually beneficial partnerships between institutions serving underserved health disparity populations and underrepresented students (ISUPSs) and NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs). It aims to achieve a stronger national cancer program and address challenges in cancer and cancer disparities research, education, and outreach, as well as cancer's impact on underserved populations.

Grant Details
The CPACHE Program expects institutions in each partnership to work collaboratively to increase the capacity of cancer research and cancer research education of the ISUPSs. It also aims to promote diversity of the cancer research workforce, improve the effectiveness of CCs in developing and sustaining research programs focused on cancer health disparities, develop and implement cancer-related outreach and education that benefit surrounding underserved communities. The program provides long-term support for cancer research infrastructure and limited support for pilot and full research projects. It includes administrative core, full and pilot research projects, planning and evaluation core, research education core, outreach core, shared resources.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) IRS status, for-profit organizations, state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Federally Recognized), eligible agencies of the Federal Government. Each partnership must include both types of institutions: 1) ISUPs, and 2) NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs).

Period of Performance
The maximum period for the grant is 5 years.

Grant Value
Application budgets are limited to $2 million in direct costs per year for partnerships of two institutions and $2.5 million in direct costs per year for partnerships of three institutions.
