The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit applications to establish a National Center for Natural Product Technology Methodology and Performance Optimization (NP-TEMPO). This initiative is to improve upon and strengthen technologies and methods used in natural products research. The NP-TEMPO, supported through the U41 cooperative agreement funding mechanism, is expected to overcome existing research limitations by developing and/or adapting cutting edge, innovative approaches and technologies that will have significant impact on the chemical and biological annotation of natural products. This FOA is being released in conjunction with the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) NMR Open Access Data Exchange and the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) Botanical Dietary Supplement Research Centers Program. Collectively, the awards under these FOA constitute the NCCIH/ODS Centers Advancing Research on Botanical and Other Natural Products (CARBON) Program. Applicants applying under this NP-TEMPO FOA are encouraged to collaborate with the NODE, the Botanical Dietary Supplement Research Centers, and other NCCIH, ODS, and NIH supported grantees through NP-TEMPO Technology Demonstration Projects (TDPs).
