Description

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) aims to expand the Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management's (DOE FECM's) carbon management portfolio through support for research and development (R&D) projects in the programmatic areas of Carbon Conversion, Carbon Dioxide Removal, Point Source Carbon Capture, and Carbon Storage.
Background
This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) aims to expand the Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management’s (DOE FECM’s) carbon management portfolio through support for research and development (R&D) projects in the programmatic areas of Carbon Conversion, Carbon Dioxide Removal, Point Source Carbon Capture, and Carbon Storage.

Grant Details
The FOA is re-opened to solicit applications for new Areas of Interest including:
- AOI-3A. Engineering-Scale Testing of Transformational Carbon Capture Technologies for Industrial Plants
- AOI-3B. Front-End Engineering Design Studies for Carbon Capture Systems at Existing (Retrofit) Domestic Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) Power Plants
- AOI-3C. Engineering-Scale Testing of Transformational Carbon Capture Technologies for Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) Power Plants
- AOI-4A. CO2 National Network for Enhancing Carbon Transport Infrastructure ONshore/Offshore (CO2NNECTION) Intermodal Transport Hubs.

Eligibility Requirements
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents are eligible to apply for funding as a Prime Recipient or Subrecipient. For-profit entities, educational institutions, and nonprofits that are incorporated under the laws of a particular State or territory of the United States are also eligible to apply for funding as a Prime Recipient or Subrecipient.

Period of Performance
The anticipated project period of performance for projects under each Area of Interest varies from 12 to 48 months, depending on the specific area of interest.

Grant Value
DOE expects to make Federal funding available for new awards under this FOA opening with estimated individual award sizes ranging from $500,000 to $15,000,000 with corresponding cost shares. The maximum DOE share listed under the anticipated individual award size is the maximum amount of DOE funding that can be proposed for each Area of Interest.
