Department of the Interior - Bureau of Land Management (State) Wildlife Resource Management
Background
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Headquarters (HQ) National Wildlife Program aims to ensure self-sustaining populations and a natural abundance and diversity of wildlife on public lands. The program collaborates with various entities, including State and local governments, Tribal governments, Federal and State agencies, private landowners, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to maintain, restore, and conserve species and their habitats. The program also focuses on protecting biodiversity, identifying, conserving, and restoring priority habitats, promoting resiliency to climate change and environmental stressors.

Grant Details
The grant opportunity aims to assist the BLM Headquarters (HQ) National Wildlife Program in enhancing habitat for various wildlife species, restoring or improving wildlife habitat, monitoring and inventorying wildlife populations and habitats, assessing wildlife habitat success, protecting various wildlife populations residing on BLM managed lands, increasing public knowledge of biodiversity and wildlife conservation challenges on BLM managed lands. Projects must align with the Department of Interior priorities as well as the priorities of the Biden-Harris Administration. The total funding for this opportunity is $4,000,000 with an anticipated 25 awards. The expected award amount ranges from $25,000 to $1,500,000. The period of performance for funded projects is estimated to range between one and no more than five years.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include State governments; County governments; City or township governments; Special district governments; Independent school districts; Public and State controlled institutions of higher education; Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized); Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS; Nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS; Private institutions of higher education. Cost sharing or matching is not required for this program; however, a voluntary cost share is strongly encouraged. Foreign entities or projects are not eligible for funding under this program.

Period of Performance
Projects funded through this opportunity will start upon issuance of a notice of award by the BLM Grants Management Officer executed through GrantSolutions. Agreement terms for funded projects are estimated to range between one and no more than five years. Projects cannot be funded for more than a five-year period.

Individuals and For-Profit Organizations are ineligible to apply for awards under this NOFO.This program NOFO does not support entities hiring interns or crews under the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993. The Public Lands Corps Act of 1993, 16 USC, Chapter 37, Subchapter II-Public Lands Corps, is the only legislative authority that allows BLM to "hire" interns under this authority. Therefore, eligible Youth Conservation Corps may only apply for projects developed under NOFO 15.243 – BLM Youth Conservation Opportunities on Public Lands.
