Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, is issuing a cooperative agreement for a project titled 'Bat Diet Characterization Focusing on Tricolored Bats and Little Brown Bats for Arnold Air Base, Tennessee.' This project aims to support the conservation and management of bat species at Arnold AFB, which is home to several bat species, including endangered ones. The goal is to study the dietary habits of tricolored bats and little brown bats to inform conservation efforts.

Grant Details
The project will involve several key tasks:

1) **Study Plan Preparation** - Develop a detailed study plan that includes GIS mapping procedures, guano collection methods, genetic analysis techniques, and data analysis methods.

2) **Field Survey and Genetic Analysis** - Collect guano for dietary analysis by providing sampling equipment for insect trapping and guano collection at mist net locations. Conduct mist netting on at least 12 nights across a minimum of 4 sites per year during April, July, and August. Augment monitoring with additional acoustic monitoring and insect trapping.

3) **Reporting** - Compile all data into a scientifically formatted report that summarizes findings and includes spreadsheets listing all prey species detected for each bat species.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants must be members of the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units (CESU) Program Regions: Great Rivers, Southern Appalachian Mountains, or Gulf Coast CESU Regions. Additionally, applicants must have an active NIST SP 800-171 DOD assessment performed within the last three years.

Period of Performance
The base period of the agreement will extend for 24 months from the date of award. There are no follow-on periods contemplated.

Grant Value
Approximately $227,181.92 is expected to be available to support this project during the base period. Additional funding may be available for optional tasks or follow-on work in subsequent years.

The project will be performed at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.
