The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs is accepting applications for the Awards for Faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) programs. These programs strengthen the humanities at HBCUs, HSIs, and TCUs by encouraging and expanding humanities research opportunities for individual faculty and staff members. Awards support individuals pursuing scholarly research that is of value to humanities scholars, students, and/or general audiences.

Background
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs is accepting applications for the Awards for Faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). These programs aim to strengthen the humanities at these institutions by encouraging and expanding research opportunities for individual faculty and staff members. The awards support scholarly research that is valuable to humanities scholars, students, and general audiences.

Grant Details
The Awards for Faculty programs provide funding for projects that may include:
- Research in primary and secondary materials leading to books, monographs, peer-reviewed articles, e-books, digital projects, translations with annotations, critical editions, or other scholarly resources;
- Projects related to institutional or community goals;
- Improvement of existing undergraduate or graduate courses;
- Development of humanities workshop series;
- Travel to archival collections.

Projects funded by the Tribal Colleges and Universities program may also focus on sustaining tribal languages and cultural traditions. The awards allow flexibility in project outcomes and periods.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include individuals who are full-time, part-time, adjunct, or retired faculty and staff members affiliated with HSIs, HBCUs, or TCUs. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals who have lived in the U.S. for at least three years prior to the application deadline. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

Period of Performance
The period of performance ranges from 2 to 12 months. Projects must start between January 1, 2026, and September 1, 2027.

Grant Value
Approximately $1,500,000 is anticipated across the three Awards for Faculty programs with approximately 22 grants awarded. Individual award amounts can be up to $60,000.

Place of Performance
The grant activities will be performed at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) across the United States.
