Description

FDA is announcing its intention to accept and consider a renewal application for a cooperative agreement, with the availability of approximately $105,000 in total fiscal year (FY) 2023 funds, in support of coordination of Federal and State actions to assure radiation protection of the American public. The recipient will also plan and facilitate an annual meeting, and develop and offer educational activities to demonstrate mutually beneficial techniques, procedures, and systems relevant to the mission of assuring radiation protection. The recipient will establish committees to address, evaluate, and offer solutions for a wide range of radiation health and protection issues. The cooperative agreement described by this notice is authorized under section 532 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 360ii), which provides FDA authority to establish and carry out an electronic product radiation control program.

Grant Details
The recipient will plan and facilitate an annual meeting, develop and offer educational activities to demonstrate mutually beneficial techniques, procedures, and systems relevant to the mission of assuring radiation protection.

The recipient will establish committees to address, evaluate, and offer solutions for a wide range of radiation health and protection issues.

The recipient's responsibilities include addressing issues related to general diagnostic radiology, non-medical applications of ionizing radiation, control and mitigation of radiation exposure from all sources, updating and maintaining consensus guidance documents for State regulations for the control of radiation, committee oversight and management, implementation of special projects as determined by participating State and Federal agencies, planning and conducting administrative functions for an annual meeting, holding training sessions demonstrating beneficial techniques developed by sponsoring agencies or the recipient, maintaining a website for the benefit of States and other interested parties with complete access to FDA Project Officer and other designated Federal personnel.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible organizations include Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD). Foreign Institutions are not eligible to apply. Non-domestic components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

Period of Performance
The project period is up to five years with an earliest start date in September 2023. The award will provide one year of support with potential recommended support for four additional years contingent upon annual appropriations, availability of funding, and satisfactory recipient performance.

Grant Value
FDA intends to commit up to $105,000 in FY 2023 to fund one award. Application budgets should reflect the actual needs of the proposed project without exceeding specified total costs over each year.
