America First Trade Promotion Program

Background
The America First Trade Promotion Program (AFTPP) is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA/FAS). The program aims to support the expansion of exports of U.S. agricultural commodities by entering into agreements with eligible participants to share the costs of marketing and promotion activities. The overarching goal is to develop, maintain, and expand diverse commercial export markets for U.S. agricultural products, excluding tobacco.

Grant Details
Under AFTPP, USDA/FAS will enter into agreements with participants to share costs associated with marketing and promotion activities aimed at expanding exports of U.S. agricultural commodities. Financial assistance is competitive and available for all U.S. agricultural commodities except tobacco. Eligible applicants include nonprofit U.S. agricultural trade organizations, state regional trade groups, agricultural cooperatives, and state agencies. Activities must align with the America First agenda and demonstrate long-term market benefits for U.S. producers. Cost-sharing is required: at least 10% for generic activities and equivalent for branded activities.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants must be nonprofit U.S. agricultural trade organizations, state regional trade groups, agricultural cooperatives, or state agencies with active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM). Applications from organizations proposing activities in ineligible markets such as China will not be considered.

Period of Performance
The period of performance will be determined upon award but generally includes a timeline for project implementation that aligns with the funding cycle.

The total available federal funding for this opportunity is $285 million, with an anticipated 60 awards available under this program.

The grant activities can be performed in various geographic locations as determined by the applicant's proposed marketing strategies.
