Description

The USGS National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) issues this annual Program Announcement for assistance to support preservation, cataloging of and access to geological and geophysical data and materials for research and education use and address the Department of Interior's Secretarial priorities. This activity is authorized by Section 351 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58, Sec. 351) which was amended by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Public Law 117-58).

The USGS National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) issues this annual Program Announcement for assistance to support preservation, cataloging of and access to geological and geophysical data and materials for research and education use and address the Department of Interior’s Secretarial priorities. This activity is authorized by Section 351 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58, Sec. 351) which was amended by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Public Law 117-58).

Grant Details
The grant will be administered by the U.S. Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants in Reston, VA. The Principal Investigator is responsible for the technical direction of the research project. The Grants Program Manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator to ensure that all technical requirements are being met.
The grant program announcement will be issued by the Contracting Officer in coordination with the Grants Program Manager. The Principal Investigator is required to submit various reports or documents including collection inventory, metadata describing individual samples or records in a collection, geologic maps submitted to NGMDB, completed geospatial data GIS, priority 1 and 3 borehole information, identified critical mineral resources deposits and districts, preserving samples for Geochemical Analyses for Characterizing Critical Mineral Resources, final technical report, publications, and final SF 425 Financial Status Report.

Eligibility Requirements
The grant is open to recipients who can comply with the terms and conditions of award set by the Department of Interior. Recipients must establish an account with ASAP for payment under financial assistance awards.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for submitting various reports or documents is within 90 calendar days after the end of the performance period.
