Summary
This Statement of Work establishes salient characteristics for the procurement of eleven standard-queen latex mattresses to support durable, hygienic, thermally regulated, and pressure-relieving sleeping accommodations for rotating personnel.
Each mattress must be nominally 60 inches wide by 80 inches long, with a thickness between 9.0 and 16.0 inches to accommodate standard deep-pocket bedding, and must use a 100% natural or blended latex core manufactured through the Talalay or Dunlop process.
The mattresses must provide instantaneous deflection recovery and dynamic contouring for varying body shapes and sleep positions without permanent impressions, while mitigating pressure at the shoulders, hips, and lower back to support spinal alignment and recovery.
They must also incorporate an open-cell structure or active ventilation channels for heat dissipation and temperature neutrality.
The latex and mattress cover must be compatible with hospital-grade disinfectants and standard military-issued sanitizing wipes for cleaning between rotating shifts, and must be naturally antimicrobial, antibacterial, dust-mite resistant, and hypoallergenic.
The requirement specifies maintenance-free construction, with no periodic flipping or rotating needed to preserve the structural warranty.
Each unit must include a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty or, at minimum, a 10-year non-prorated warranty covering sagging, physical defects, and material degradation.
All mattresses must meet or exceed federal flammability requirements under 16 CFR Part 1633 and 16 CFR Part 1632.
