Government Description
Painting and steel repairs to the railroad bridge, cape cod canal, buzzards bay, MA. Includes blast cleaning all metalwork of the vertical lift railroad bridge down to bare metal and application of a high-performance, three-coat paint system using solvent cleaning (SSPC SP 1) and commercial blast cleaning (sspc sp 6/nace no.3). Limited steel repairs will be performed at the towers and center span, with the bridge required to remain properly balanced at all times, including installation of balance blocks on counterweights as needed. The project will be coordinated with mbta, mass coastal railroad, and the cape cod canal marine traffic controller to maintain open navigation channels and scheduled train operations throughout the work.
