Overview

Government Description
Chickamauga lock approach walls and decommissioning construction contract with base and options. The scope of work includes construction of river and middle approach walls downstream from the lock, decommissioning of the existing lock, wet commissioning of the lock chamber constructed in a previous contract, and site restoration activities. The downstream approach walls will be built using pre-cast concrete beams fabricated in 2012 and stored at a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) facility, extending under and through the norfolk southern railway bridge. Additional work includes construction of two new 30-FOOT diameter mooring cells downstream of the new lock, plugging portions of the existing lock chamber and associated wall culverts with concrete, installing a concrete thrust block to resist expansion in the dam, filling remaining areas with stone, and removal of miscellaneous equipment and buildings.
