Heavy fuel wankel rotary engine design and development. The contractor is designing, developing, and delivering a novel lightweight compact heavy-fuel rotary engine and associated technical data for Future Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (FTUAS) for DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL). Tasks include developing a baseline combustion model, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) fuel model, turbocharger matching and performance analysis, direct fuel injection system market research, dimensional model for direct injection and timing analysis, sensitivity analysis of model correlation, combustion chamber geometries design and analysis, weight and packaging strategy investigations, and a design of experiment plan for validation testing.
