Research Type
Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase I
Title
Remote placed Bandolier lane clearing
Abstract
Bandolier is a lightweight modular line charge system for creating clear pathways through IED, mines, wire, fencing walls, and hard obstacles. By remote coupling bandolier sections wider and longer paths can be created. The remotely delivered Bandolier system promises to outperform conventional systems in effectiveness, weight and volume, and logistics footprint. By deploying the Bandolier via robotic systems such as AUGV, UGV but especially UAV, linear and nonlinear paths geometries can be created remotely at a speed and precision through complex obstacle fields without exposing or endangering engineers or troops. Phase 1 focuses on clearance effects and propagation mechanics. Phase 2 will focus on remote coupling and targeting and integration with user selected platforms.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
