Government Description
Low rate initial production/full rate production for the joint assault bridge. This contract includes the manufacture and delivery of fully-tracked armored combat engineer vehicles (joint assault bridge, or jab) designed to provide armored brigade combat teams with assault bridging capabilities using a modified M1A1 abrams chassis and an integrated hydraulic Bridge Launcher Mechanism (BLM) to deploy the avlb MLC-85 scissor bridge. Work performed encompasses both hardware and services, including production of jab systems, technical manual updates, Field Service Representative (FSR) support, Interim Contractor Logistics Support (ICLS), operator and field-level new equipment training, and the provision of spares and support for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases. Additional tasks involve engineering change proposals (ECPS), software updates, configuration changes, hardware modifications, and the supply of various components such as metal fabricated parts, hydraulic components, electronic assemblies, and fire suppression equipment.

May 2016: DRS Sustainment Systems Inc., St. Louis, Missouri, was awarded a $31,845,252 firm-fixed-price, multi-year contract with options for 365 joint assault bridges with related services and test hardware.  Bids were solicited via the Internet with two received. Work will be performed in West Plains, Missouri, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 2, 2016.  Fiscal 2015 and 2016 research, development, testing, and evaluation; and other procurement (Army) funds in the amount of $31,845,252 were obligated at the time of the award.  Army Contracting Command Warren, Michigan, is the contracting activity (W56HZV-16-C-0028).
