Title
Knowledge-based AMmunition Logistics (KAML)
Abstract
The Tactical Ammunition Management Micro Services (TAMMS) system is being developed by the Army to help manage logistics and planning for ammunition. TAMMS integrates into the rest of the Command Control Communications-Tactical (C3T) environment using a microservice architecture where components are loosely coupled and data is shared through a data mesh. Charles River Analytics proposes to design and develop a Knowledge-based AMmunition Logistics (KAML) framework to support TAMMS. KAML collects, translates, and reasons with relevant data to provide understanding and actionable information for ammunition sustainment planning, analysis, assessment, and execution management. KAML combines mature capabilities that Charles River has developed under related efforts for knowledge representation, probabilistic reasoning, and measure of performance prediction. KAML will be implemented as a collection of microservices in the AI Services Layers using Army s AI Reference Architecture (AIRA) to easily integrate into C3T s tactical data platform.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
