Title
Innovative Semi-Active Laser (SAL) Signal Processing Techniques in Noisy Environments
Abstract
The proposed second Phase II effort is to perform innovative research into SAL signal processing and guidance methods which utilize imaging sensor measurements of the laser spot and clutter.Developing the SAL signal processing and guidance algorithms for a de-focused, strap-down, dual-mode seeker solution is also proposed.Development of signal processing algorithms to process the sensor image is the primary development activity for the effort. These algorithms will correlate on a coded laser spot and precisely track the spot across a wide, linear field-of-view.Modeling and simulation (M&S) of the prototype design will be performed to develop and evaluate these seeker algorithms. Also research into image processing using FPGAs and graphical processing units (GPU) will be performed in support of hosting the new algorithms.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
