HARM thermal batteries are critical subcomponents of the High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM) and must serve as form, fit, and function drop-in replacements for the current battery supplied by eaglepicher (part number 704AS14323). Includes providing thermal batteries that meet application-specific requirements reviewed by nawcwd battery subject matter experts, system safety, and the Non-Nuclear Munitions Safety Board (NNMSB), as well as passing system-level environmental qualification testing. Additional work involves the manufacture and assembly of machined battery parts such as mounting rails, brackets, battery containers, battery headers, cable harnesses, battery insulators, and related components.

Sep 2019: EaglePicher Technologies, Joplin, Missouri, is awarded a $9,812,000 firm-fixed-price contract for 2,200 High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile thermal batteries for the Navy (1,000); Air Force (610); and the governments of Germany (549); Saudi Arabia (26); and Australia (15). Work will be performed in Joplin, Missouri, and is expected to be completed in March 2022. Fiscal 2017 and 2019 missile procurement (Air Force); and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) funds in the amount of $5,352,000 will be obligated at time of award, $802,800 of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract combines purchases for the Navy ($4,460,000; 45%); Air Force ($2,720,600; 28%); and the governments of Germany ($2,448,540; 25%); Saudi Arabia ($115,960; 1%); and Australia ($66,900; 1%) under the FMS Act. This contract was not competitively procured pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, California, is the contracting activity (N68936-19-C-0031).
