Title
Generative System for Integrated Synthetic Air Defense Scenarios (GenSIS)
Abstract
In the evolving landscape of combat simulation training, scenario developers face the ongoing challenge of diversifying their scenarios. This diversification is vital for keeping training programs aligned with the latest problem sets, global situations, and the continuous evolution of adversaries. However, implementing these variations without compromising the core objectives of the training exercises is fraught with challenges. Most fighter simulation programs are constructed around a predefined sequence of events that mirror the chronological stages of a mission. This includes the communication and mechanics involved in takeoff, the outbound route to the target area, actions within the target vicinity, the return route, and finally, the landing process. Introducing changes to these scenarios demands a delicate balance in order to maintain the integrity of the training mission. There is a critical need for agile scenario authoring and modification tools that target this challenge. Such new tools should be capable of identifying how modifications to one aspect of the simulation would affect other components. They must enable developers to rapidly refine the model, ensuring that the training scenario remains within the desired parameters. Recognizing these challenges, Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. (KBSI) proposes to design and demonstrate an innovative Generative System for Integrated Synthetic Air Defense Scenarios (GenSIS) that will revolutionize air defense combat training for Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) applications (see Figure 1). GenSIS integrates a suite of advanced features including an adaptive AI model for generating diverse, high-quality scenarios in near real-time, a novel reinforced sequence training method for enhanced model precision, and rapid scenario validation through a dedicated air defense training ontology. Additionally, it will incorporate a sophisticated communication assessment capability that leverages cutting-edge speech-to-text technology and natural language understanding methods to analyze and integrate voice communications, considering the aspects of state, space, and time. KBSI's highly qualified team is uniquely equipped to establish an innovative, pragmatic, and sustainable solution that addresses the challenging requirements identified in the solicitation. KBSI has three decades of experience with Artificial Intelligence and two decades of experience building adaptive training solutions for the military and industry.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
