Abstract
Effective communication is the lifeblood of modern militaries, serving as the linchpin for strategic coordination, tactical execution, and mission success. Software Defined Radios (SDRs) are chosen as a cornerstone of information distribution systems due to their adaptability and security. To maximize SDRs advantageous, a fleet needs an effective solution to deploy software release to the SDRs in secure, scalable, and speedy solution. The desire for secure rapid iterations of software aligns with Development, Security, and Operations (DSO) methodology. DSO is built upon the technology of a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline. In Phase I, Sabel Systems proposes to create a sandbox DEC Foundry for PMA/PWM-101 to aid in its SDR software acquisition pathway. The DEC Foundry is a cloud-agnostic solution that can be customized to support a client's particular software acquisition pathway. A DEC Foundry will enable the fleet to leverage DSO capabilities such as: Automated Build Scripts, Unit Testing, Security Testing, Regression Testing, and Delivery staging in an artifact repository for multiple SDR configurations in a change management-controlled solution. In Phase II, a production-ready DEC Foundry will be deployed and utilized to develop software for SDRs for PMA/PMW-101. In Phase III, the DEC Foundry will be produced for deployment across the DoD.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
